Super Serie Fusion is the first large-flowered Cyclamen with two-toned flowers. Schoneveld Breeding developed this new addition to the assortment out of the Super Serie genetics. Flowering is best from the end of September, and one can enjoy the color pattern until mid-December. This is explained by Dinja Lankhorst, area manager of North and Central Europe, and she foresees a beautiful future for Super Serie Fusion worldwide.
“In fact, there is a continuous wish for a large-flowered Cyclamen with outstanding flower colors in our sales department. It is always nice to have special colors or types. It gives you the opportunity to stand out from what is already on the market. Until recently, we had a mainly standard color assortment in the large-flowered varieties. Now, the large-flowered Super Serie Fusion really puts the spotlight on us. It is a completely new product. A variety in the large-flowered segment that is not available on the market yet. This new series, available in Neon Pink, is generating a serious amount of attention.”
According to Dinja, Super Serie Fusion Large is a special addition to the market. “For the grower, it is mainly a nice and very unique addition,” she says. For now, the developments are positive. Last season, the number of growers wanting to test Super Serie Fusion was higher than the available amount of seeds Schoneveld Breeding could deliver. Dinja: “We have very positive expectations for the coming season.”
Super Serie Fusion has been developed out of the renowned Super Serie genetics of Schoneveld Breeding. That means it is a Cyclamen with a compact, round plant shape and central, sturdy flowering. Cultivating Super Serie Fusion Large is like XL. “Nice for growers,” says Dinja. “We bring something unique to the market, but at the same time, it is kind of familiar to them.”
Opportunities for Super Serie Fusion are all around the world. “The market is especially asking for multiple colors in Super Serie Fusion Large and for a Super Serie Fusion Midi. We are currently working on that.” At the same time, Dinja sees differences between regions. “For the warmer areas in the fall, this series will be even more interesting because this market is much bigger.”
“This season, we also give a preview of the near future,” continues Dinja. “Besides Super Serie Fusion Large, growers can set up trials with the more compact Super Serie Fusion Midi. This Cyclamen flowers a bit earlier in the season with the unique color type.” Super Serie Fusion Midi will be available in 3 colors starting from the next season (’24-’25). Dinja: “I expect we can make a promising start with Fusion Midi.” During the Cyclamen Open Days in weeks 43, 44, and 45, Super Serie Fusion Midi can already be seen by visitors.
“What we find most important is that our customers will be convinced of our product by themselves.” That is why Schoneveld Breeding frequently sets out trials with growers. On the one hand, that gives a clear image of the local market while the grower can get experience with the product. At the same time, with these extensive tests, the specialists of Schoneveld Breeding learn a lot about the performances of Super Serie Fusion in different circumstances. “Together with the technical colleagues, we support growers with their cultivation. This is our added value, and, in the end, the whole chain benefits from that.”
