Assembly line increases production to 30,000 flowers per day in Shanghai



The current edition of the Horti China Newsletter gathers some interesting articles on recent developments in China’s horticulture sector.

The agricultural park in Gangyan Town in Shanghai has increased the production of fresh-cut flowers to 30,000 flowers per day with the installation of a new assembly line. Together with technology from the Netherlands, including a Dutch greenhouse, this realizes a cultivation cycle of two months.

August 23 saw the kick-off of the 8th Inner Mongolia Kharachin Tomato Festival, a collaboration between the Chinese Horticultural Society and Beijing Hongfu Group, at the Chifeng Hongfu Modern Agriculture Industrial Park in Jinshan City. The festival focused on Hongfu tomatoes and the “rural revitalization” strategy.

Yunnan, located in southwest China, is known as a major center for ornamental cultivation. This success is largely due to the fusion of science, technology, and the ornamental horticulture sector, resulting in an extensive industrial chain. This has enabled Yunnan to take a leading position in China in terms of production and sales.

On August 17, it reported on the development of agriculture and horticulture in Qinghai province. Several agricultural and rural organizations have joined forces to strengthen exports of organic agricultural and meat products.

The city of Tongxiang, located in Zhejiang province, is positioning itself as the center of the “Hangzhou white chrysanthemum.” The white chrysanthemum is known in Traditional Chinese Medicine for its beneficial properties. Since 2022, over 3,000 hectares have been developed in Tongxiang for white chrysanthemum production.
