Outdoor plants in the spotlight in four consumer magazines in the Netherlands

Outdoor plants are in the spotlight in four consumer magazines in October. In Libelle, Margriet, Flair, and Volkskrant Magazine, respectively, residents talk about their plans and wish to color their front garden, balcony, or roof terrace with beautiful outdoor plants. Tom Groot, the regular gardener from the Dutch TV program Huis & Tuin, gives practical tips and inspiring ideas. The content campaign started on October 11 in the magazine Libelle with Joyce and Sebastiaan from Haarlem, who are greening their façade garden with colorful outdoor plants.

The content series was developed by Bloemenbureau Holland in collaboration with Royal FloraHolland’s Outdoor Committee and growers. The stories are part of the campaign From Grey to Green in every season. The message: October is the time for new plantings that add color to autumn. Besides the personal stories of the residents, the growers who supplied the outdoor plants are also featured. In the first article it is Rudolf Hopmans, owner of nursery Natuurlijk Hopmans in Wieringerwerf. Among other things, he talks about the efforts to grow ‘his Heuchera’ ever more sustainably.

Cooperation with growers
Spread over four weeks, the series appears in four DPG media group titles. After Libelle (October 11), it is the turn of the magazine Margriet (October 18), then the magazine Flair (October 24), and the Volkskrant Magazine (October 28). The aim is to inspire and help a wide audience with practical tips. At the same time, this way, sector communicators are included step by step in the ongoing campaigns, content, and activities of Bloemenbureau Holland. For this series, Van der Starre (climbing plants), Hoogeveen Plants, Van Woudenberg Tuinplanten, and Natuurlijk Hopmans have been hooked up. Their stories will also be actively shared via social media channels Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.

The content can also be found on mooiwatplantendoen.nl. Visitors will find many more tips and ideas there for decorating roof terraces or façade gardens in the late season.

In the period from October 2 to 15, the From Grey to Green campaign will be additionally supported with radio commercials on popular stations in each season.
